Safetmade Leads the Way in Global Standards for Maritime Safety Equipment
Ozan Esin, Sales Manager at Safetmade, discussed the company's critical safety products, quality processes, export strategies, and vision for the future.
Esin emphasized that the company has made a difference in the industry with its accumulated knowledge from both R&D activities and experience in the global market.
Technological innovations and the R&D process
Referring to the technologies adopted in the development process of Safetmade's critical safety products, such as “Load Test Water Bags” and “Hydrostatic Release Units,” Esin highlighted the advantages of being both a manufacturer and a user in different parts of the world. “Our long-term experience in the R&D department for water bags is beneficial. We have also been conducting long-term exposure tests in corrosive environments with high seawater concentration for many years. We keep our products up-to-date and functional through the experience we gain both in the field and in production, feedback from customers, and the contributions of our service technicians at home and abroad,” he said.
Quality control and certifications
Highlighting the importance of International Maritime Safety Standards, Esin gives the following information about Safetmade's product portfolio: "Very few companies can produce to world standards in line with International Maritime Organization (IMO) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) requirements to offer this in a wide range of products. Safetmade has been progressing by adding value for almost 20 years. We are the sole manufacturer with a ‘Type Approval’ certificate, particularly for our Load Test Water Bags. In addition, our Hydrostatic Release Unit (HRU), Fall Preventer Device (FPD), and First Aid Kit for lifeboats and liferafts are also certified by various classification societies around the world in accordance with international maritime and safety standards."
Customer-focused product developmenth
Esin stated that customer requirements directly shape the products: "Although adhering to international standards may seem to limit diversity, we can make optional improvements according to customer needs. For instance, we produce Load Test Water Bags in different tonnages ranging from 0.5 tons to 120 tons. We even make limited productions such as 1.6 tons upon user request. We also support our customers with our after-sales warranty, maintenance, and repair services. We maintain an extensive sales and service network with our offices in different countries. Feedback from customers directly influences the development of our production process."
Competitive pricing and cost management
Nothing that costs are high in the marine supplies sector, Esin explained their competitive pricing strategies as follows: "Our long term experience and strong communication with global raw material suppliers give us an advantage in pricing. We develop customized solutions through our R&D works and provide active support to our customers with pre- and after-sales services. We adopt an approach of providing high quality at low cost in order to maintain the optimum balance between price and quality in the face of increasing competition as the market grows. We market our products worldwide, collect user feedback, and maintain communication with them even after the ales."
Global market and export strategy
Referring to Safetmade's international structure, Esin stated that they service whole Europe continent through their Netherlands branch, the Middle East and the Gulf of Oman through their United Arab Emirates branch, and operate globally from their Turkey headquarters. “Our logistics partners and experienced team carry out export operations to 7 continents and over 200 countries and many ports seamlessly. We continue our global expansion by continuously growing our trade volume with over 20 service partners,” he said.
Future trends and sustainability
Esin stated that they closely follow technological transformations in the sector and are particularly focused on innovative solutions: "With the Wireless Discharge Unit we developed for our Load Test Water bags, we aim to offer users both a technological and practical solution for water discharge. Testing of this product is still in progress. Environmental sustainability is also one of the fundamental priorities of our identity as a manufacturer. We optimize our energy management systems and use materials with maximum efficiency to reduce our carbon footprint. We contribute to environmental health with our up-to-date production equipment and environmentally friendly materials."
