Since 1981, DVZ has been delivering advanced biological treatment solutions, providing reliable performance on more than 10,000 ships worldwide and developing technologies that exceed IMO and MARPOL standards. As the exclusive representative of DVZ in Türkiye, Artı Denizcilik is proud to introduce these technologies to maritime industry.
Over 40 Years of Trust
DVZ offers a comprehensive product portfolio that covers all liquid waste management needs on ships:
• Biological Wastewater Treatment Plants (DVZ-JZR “Biomaster” series)
• Oily Water Separators (DVZ-FSU “Oilchief”)
• Grease Separators (DVZ-FT series)
•Collection and Retention Tanks (DVZ-SCT series)
These solutions are successfully applied across superyachts, RoPax ferries, commercial vessels, naval ships, offshore platforms, and industrial facilities.
Protecting the Environment Through Technology
With the Jet-Zone-Reactor and Biomass Separation Unit: minimum energy, maximum efficiency. Developed in collaboration with Bremen University, the Jet-Zone-Reactor is DVZ’s patented wastewater treatment technology that requires no additional chemicals.
No extra disinfectants or chemicals are needed to achieve crystal-clear water. Built from stainless steel, the units are low-maintenance, reliable, and fully meet the target of “zero odor, zero color.”
Compact Design, Maximum Efficiency
System components can be placed in different areas of the engine room instead of being concentrated in a single unit. When membranes are located outside the unit, they allow for easy maintenance and even remote operation. Additionally, DVZ manufactures its own membranes, custom-designed for specific applications.
The DVZ Jet-Zone-Reactor (JZR) unit saves up to 75% of space compared to conventional aeration systems. With no moving parts inside the reactor, maintenance requirements are kept to a minimum.
• The two-zone (Jet and Reaction) design provides high tolerance to biological loads.
• The aeration system, working on an injector principle, achieves maximum oxygen transfer with low energy consumption.
• Highly efficient mixing ensures biomass is optimally loaded with substrate.
These features make DVZ-JZR an ideal solution for a wide range of applications, from high-capacity passenger ferries to luxury yachts.
Biomass Separation Unit (DVZ-BMSU)
DVZ’s BMSU membrane technology, built entirely from stainless steel and titanium alloys, offers a much longer lifespan (>20 years) than conventional plastic or ceramic membranes.
• Thanks to Clean-in-Place (CIP) capability, membranes can be cleaned without shutting down the system.
• As the modules are located outside the reactor tank, maintenance access is easy.
• Continuous “clear water” quality is ensured, eliminating the need for additional disinfectants (chlorine, UV, etc.).
Clear Water, Safe Voyage
DVZ systems are certified in accordance with international standards and regulations:
• IMO MEPC.159(55)
• IMO MEPC.227(64) (including paragraph 4.2; Phosphorus and Nitrogen removal)
• MARPOL Annex IV
• Great Lakes, Alaska, and Special Area requirements
This broad compliance makes DVZ units an ideal solution for both newbuild projects and retrofit/refit applications.
DVZ’s advanced biological treatment technologies provide a technical guarantee of sustainability in shipping. Combined with Artı Denizcilik’s local expertise, they bring high-performance, certified, and durable solutions to projects in Türkiye.
Comparison with Urban Wastewater Regulations – DVZ Test Results
DVZ systems stand out not only for their robust engineering but also for their superior performance compared to official regulatory limits. While this comparison does not authorize the treated water for general reuse, it illustrates the quality of the effluent.
DVZ systems consistently deliver results well below regulatory thresholds for organic matter and suspended solids. Only nitrogen values require potential optimization, which can be achieved through nitrification/denitrification and membrane technologies where needed.
